Sancti Spiritus
Together with its historical and cultural values , the local attractions in the Escambray mountains, the beaches and the beauty of its sea, as well as the hospitality of the people, distinguish this site.
Founded on June 4th, 1514, by Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar, next to Tuinucú river, this town is called Pueblo Viejo.
The starting point of the Spanish conquest of Yucatán, it was moved to its current location, next to the Yayabo river, in 1522 .

Sancti Spíritus attractions

Declared historical monument, the city still keeps some elements of its colonial style: it treasures a bridge over the Yayabo River dating from the 16th century, a church of the same age and a theater from 1839.
